The days in Japan - March 2024

Japan is an amazing country in my eyes. I was in awe when I saw so many incredible places, like Mount Fuji, Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto. Before visiting Japan, I dreamed about these scenes every day, never imagining that such a day would actually come.

I should thank my dad for this, as he always asked me when I would go to Japan. Since my friends didn’t have time to go with me, my dad and mom told me directly that they would go with me instead. Love you, Dad.

KYOTO

Kyoto isn't as bustling as Tokyo, it's more of a relaxed and peaceful place. However, there are many tourists no matter where you go in Japan. March is considered the best month to travel, with cold weather and temperatures ranging from 1°C to 10°C (but it kept raining the past few days, and it was freezing cold), plus a chance to see snow. Unfortunately, we weren't that lucky.

We had the chance to make sushi ourselves because we were traveling with a tour group called Apple Vacations. It was part of the package, but we had a lot of fun making sushi together. It was a great experience.

The Strawberry Daifuku is the best at Sannenzaka! The strawberry is so sweet, and it's perfectly combined with the mochi and red bean paste. I could eat all of it—not joking! There’s a lot of street food at Sannenzaka, as shown in the photo I took.

Then, we arrived at Ninenzaka to visit the most famous temple in Kyoto, Kiyomizu Temple. I was really shocked when I saw Kiyomizu Temple in front of me, it was so gorgeous and beautiful. By the way, there were too many people there taking photos, just like me.

MIE

Ninja City is not the best choice to visit in Mie. There's not much to do there except enjoy the train ride. It's not bad, but if given the choice, I would recommend skipping this city.

Nabana no Sato is the best place to see flowers, including cherry blossoms. There are many types of flowers to enjoy. It's my mom's favourite place! She could stay there all day, surrounded by the flowers. After you see the flowers, you can enjoy delicious Hokkaido ice cream inside Nabana no Sato, as our tour guide mentioned. My father chose strawberry flavour, and I chose the original flavour. Both were just as good as the tour guide had said. There are also many shops where you can buy souvenirs and snacks.

We had lunch at Ama Culture, where there was a lot of fresh seafood caught by the amas, such as abalone, lobster, oysters, scallops, and more. The amas cooked the seafood for us traditionally, grilling it over an open flame. When we finished our meal, the amas sang and danced together to give us a memorable experience.

TOYOHASHI / HAMAMATSU

My mom has always dreamed of an all you can eat strawberry experience, and now we're here! We had to take a ferry to an island (though I'm not sure which one it is), and there were many plants, including grains, fruits, and vegetables. The strawberries were huge and sweet, and my mom kept eating them like she'd never tasted strawberries before. Oh god.

We had the bullet train experience in Hamamatsu, and wow, you can't imagine how fast it is! The bullet train's top speed reaches up to 320/km per hour. If you have time, it's definitely worth trying on your travel list.

OSHINI HAKAKI

Oshino Hakkai is the best place for photos and check ins, especially with the lakes under the buildings. Oshino Hakkai is located right beneath Mount Fuji. When we reached the area, it started getting colder, and the temperature dropped to just 1°C. A down jacket is a must, you’ll need to wear it the entire time you're near Mount Fuji.

We tried some street food made with tofu, but for me and my parents, it was just so so and nothing special. But we ended up buying a lot of things there, and what we bought the most was food, lol. Especially the dried scallops, they're packaged individually, like snacks. You can eat them directly without cooking.

MOUNT FUJI (FUJISAN)

What a gorgeous Fujisan! The top was still covered with snow, with no clouds, no rain, just sunshine and clear skies. I was truly surprised when I saw the huge Mount Fuji so clearly in front of me. We spent all our time taking photos with Fujisan, and here's the picture! Please enjoy.

There was an onsen at our resort, and we stayed for one night. Cold weather and an onsen? No, I didn’t try it, but my dad did. Since you need to be naked to enjoy the onsen, that’s the rule. You also have to clean your body before entering the onsen.

TOKYO

Sensoji Temple is a famous temple in Tokyo. I learned that in the center of the temple, there is a huge red lantern, and it's a must to take a photo with it. We prayed for a while and followed the local customs to explore the entire temple.

After visiting the temple, there are many street foods and small shops. You’ll need plenty of time to walk around since the streets are quite long. I bought a tiny Shiba doll as a souvenir for myself at Sensoji Temple. Oh my God, it’s so adorable! I swear, I will take my Shiba with me and travel around the world.

Finally, I arrived in the city I had always dreamed of visiting -Tokyo, a bustling and high-tech metropolis. At here, we could see people coming and going, office workers with clutch bags in hand as they crossed the intersections. We also saw many high rise buildings and some unique attractions that are a must to see. The most peculiar one was a giant Godzilla crouching next to a building. Interesting!

Ginza is the most luxurious shops in Tokyo. I exchanged Japanese yen for Malaysian ringgit, and most things were cheaper than in Malaysia! Of course, I bought a handbag - Celine Ava Triomphe.

Since we still had some time, our tour guide said he would take us to enjoy the cherry blossoms! Luckily, we found a place full of cherry blossoms. It was so pretty, with all the pinky flowers.

After that, we had king crab sashimi for dinner. It was so delicious because I love sashimi.

THE END.

So, this was our Japan trip with my family, and it ended perfectly. We're really looking forward to our next trip to Chongqing in March.
